Applied Behavior
Analysis
(ABA)

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Services uses interventions that are evidenced-based (backed by research and behavioral principles) to improve or change certain behaviors. This usually involves manipulation of one's environment to attain the desired behavioral outcome. Data is collected before and after the recommended intervention to measure progress in addition to ensuring the intervention is effective. Interventions are tailored toward the individual and can be tweaked as needed. The overall aim is that one can independently manage and maintain the new behavioral changes (without services). The recently-learned concepts may be invaluable as they can be applied to other areas of life or behaviors.

Sleep Science Coaching

Are you getting the recommended 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night recommended per the National Sleep Foundation? If you find you're not getting the quality or quality of sleep recommended, sleep science coaching may be for you! Sleep science coaching involves improving your sleep hygiene so that your mind and body can get the rest they need to rejuvenate. The first session will consist of a 1-on-1 comprehensive assessment (approximately 60 minutes) and will require a sleep diary outside of session. Please note that Uncharted Progress, unfortunately, is not equiped to assist with certain diagnosed conditions such as narcolepsy or sleep apnea as they require medical intervention. Other wellness behaviors that you may want to focus on include weight management, increasing exercise, smoking cessation or establishing a healthier routine in general.  â€‹

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a behavior analytic therapy that really hones in on language and its impact on behavior. It utilizes metaphors, examines paradoxes, includes experiential exercises and can be awkward or uncomfortable at times. One of the main goals is to increase one's psychological flexibility (decreasing rigidity in one's behavioral patterns)

through concepts such as living in the present moment and acceptance so that one can live a life in accordance with their individualized values. ACT has been effective for numerous behaviors, but especially ones that involve experiential avoidance (unwillingness to make contact with thoughts, situations that may be distressing in an attempt to control them).

For example, have you ever found yourself avoiding feelings or situations which you predict will be uncomfortable by numbing yourself with __________ (fill in the blank with alcohol or other substances, overwork, food, shopping, gambling, social media, etc.)? What do you gain in this situation? On the other hand, what do you lose? These are loaded questions, but are crucial when exploring behavioral patterns that have become problematic or may seem automatic.
